Local History Of Wirral (A) Tutor: Jim O’Neil

Thursdays 10-12 Starting January 15th

This course will look at the settlement and development of Wirral and introduce some sources for local history. There will be field trips to places of historic interest. There may be a small extra charge for visiting speakers and/or field trips. This will be discussed on the first day of the course.

Local History Of Wirral(B) Tutor: Jim O’Neil

Tuesdays 10-12 Starting January 13th

This course will be based upon an A-Z of Wirral, plus maybe a little of Liverpool. There will be field trips to places of historic interest. There may be a small extra charge for visiting speakers and/or field trips. This will be discussed on the first day of the course.

Local History (C) Tutor: Roy Dennett

Fridays 10-12 Starting January 16th

This course brings local history to your doorstep. It includes field trips to Wirral Museum, Flaybrick Memorial Gardens, St Andrew’s Church Bebington and other places of interest in Bromborough, Eastham etc.

Local History (D) Tutor: Chris Thompson

Mondays 10-12 Starting January 12th

This thematic study of Local History will include monasticism and the reformation in Wirral, the workhouse and the poor law in Clatterbridge and Tranmere and riot and disorder in Birkenhead in the 19th and 20th centuries. The focus is mainly on the Mersey side of the Wirral, but events and circumstances in the west Wirral area are covered when appropriate.
