Wirral History

This course will cover the history of Wirral from the Tudor period to the present day. It will include external visits and possibly guest speakers for which a small extra charge may be applicable; this will be discussed at the first lesson. No previous knowledge is required.

A chronological study of Wirral inhabitants from Neolithic to Norman times is followed by an in-depth study of the establishment of a new town. Other topics include Victorians at play - New Brighton and Birkenhead Park, the story of Upton, and the lives of Mary McCoy and Alfred Laver.
